17th century silver-gilt Fede ring. Silver, 20mm diameter x 6mm, 1.85g. UK ring size Q, US 8 +1/4. A finger ring with the bezel formed of two clasped hands, the fingers depicted by engraved lines. Fede (Italian meaning 'faith') rings were a popular love token from 12th century and remained so well into 19th century. The hands joined symbolised the love and faith between two people.
